Rep. Comstock Statement On Anti-Dulles Airport Amendment Being Withdrawn in FAA Reauthorization Bill

April 26, 2018
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA) released the following statement after Rep. Cuellar withdrew his amendment that would have undermined the Slot and Perimeter rules and harmed Dulles Airport and our regional economy:

“I was pleased to lead my colleagues on a bipartisan basis to fight and defeat the Cuellar amendment that would have harmed our local airports and our economic growth.  Reagan National and Washington Dulles International Airports were designed by the federal government and operate on its behalf as an integrated system.  For over three decades, passenger volume at Dulles International grew while the Slot rule at Reagan National kept flight activity relatively stable. Rep. Cuellar’s amendment would have damaged that stability and Dulles Airport’s economic viability.  I’m pleased that the strong coalition we put together opposing the amendment led the congressman to withdraw it.”
