Rep. Comstock’s Opioid Bill Passes Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA) released the following statement after H.R. 5473, the Better Pain Management Through Better Data Act of 2018, legislation designed to reduce the use of opioids where possible and reduce the threat of addiction, was passed by the Health Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee:
“We are pleased the legislation passed the committee today on a bipartisan basis. The deadly epidemic of opioid addiction needs a multipronged approach to reduce the use of opioids with other non-addictive treatments. This legislation is a targeted approach to managing and minimizing the use of opioids where possible and I am pleased that it is moving forward through the Energy and Commerce Committee and is one step closer to becoming law.”
