Comstock Votes For DHS Funding Bill
Washington, DC - Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA) issued the following statement on the passage of FY15: Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Bill. This appropriations bill passed the House today by a vote of 236-191. The legislation also included amendments that rolled back President Obama’s unconstitutional overreach from last year.
“As a former Department of Justice official who served after the September 11th attacks, I am acutely aware of why Homeland Security funding is so important to defending the nation from terrorist threats,” said Congresswoman Comstock. “Funding in this bill will help protect Americans from those who want to do us harm. This bill also included important amendments that rolled back President Obama’s unconstitutional overreach on immigration from last year. The framers of the Constitution put in a system of checks and balances which President Obama clearly ignored with his executive orders. President Obama said twenty-two times that he could not go against the Constitution, even saying at one point - ‘I am president, I am not king.’ Today the House confirmed the President's own statements and restored the rule of law.”
