Comstock Statement on Requested GAO Metro Report
Washington, DC - Congresswoman Barbara Comstock's office released the following statement on the request for a GAO report on Metro:
"The Congresswoman is working on much needed legislation to bring fundamental change to Metro. We appreciate the request for yet another report, but we have a running list of nearly 40 different reports on Metro from the last ten years. These reports are from NTSB, FTA, NVTC, WMATA, MWCoG, the American Enterprise Institute--even a number of reports from GAO, which is the same source the members are sending their request to.
"The Congresswoman continues to review the wealth of information at hand while working with the many experts and stakeholders such as the Federal City Council, led by former DC Mayor Anthony Williams; James Dyke, who has served on the Commonwealth Transportation Board and was co-chair of the Joint Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Governance Review; and the Virginia Department of Transportation. We expect hearings in the near future to address the needed reforms to help metro."
