Comstock On Speaker John Boehner’s Resignation
Washington, DC – Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-10th) today issued the following statement on the announcement of Speaker John Boehner’s resignation:
“Speaker John Boehner is a class act who loves this institution and this country and I have been privileged to work with him, first as a staffer on Capitol Hill when Republicans took a historic majority in 1994, and then as a Member of Congress with the largest Republican majority since the 1920s. Speaker Boehner is an honorable man of faith and conviction who has always served his constituents and the American people – particularly children and the most vulnerable – in a faithful and consistent way. He has always served as a patriot committed to our founding principles. I particularly appreciate the Speaker bringing both Prime Minister Netanyahu and Pope Francis to Congress this year for historic addresses and it is my prayer that our conference will come together, unify, and move forward and lead on the many challenges we have facing our country. I would also like to thank the Speaker’s family and dedicated staff for all of their service to our great country.”
