In the wake of a critical National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) report, the National Capital Region’s Congressional Delegation today called on the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to take immediate action to fix a serious safety issue resulting from improperly installed power connector assemblies throughout the Metrorail system.

Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-10th), seeking answers Tuesday morning to the recent fatal derailment of Amtrak #188, expressed frustration Tuesday during the first congressional hearing into the matter.
Specifically, she wanted to know whether the engineer was on his cell phone at the time of the derailment.
